Patrice and Danielle Soyer, both graduates in Pharmacy from the University of Paris, were specialists in the development and production of products for contact lenses when they founded the Contapharm Laboratories in 1981. Backed by their savoir-faire and in collaboration with eye specialists and opticians, they identified a problem specific to women who wear contact lenses:


This problem affects more than half of all women, has no direct relation to any substance identifiable by patch testing, is often linked to a natural predisposition (skin type, sensitive or watery eyes, age, heredity) or to conditions of modern life (stress, pollution, aggressive products, hard water, dieting, unhealthy eating habits, air-conditioning, smoking).

By combining in-depth studies of eye and skin physiology with knowledge gleaned from biomaterial used in contactology, they came up with the concept of bio-inertia formulations. Initially applied to makeup products for contact lens wearers, the concept has progressively spread to all skincare and makeup products for those with sensitive eyes and skin.

Today, Eye Care Cosmetics is distributed in over 35 countries worldwide and is recognised by healthcare professionals (dermatologists, allergy-specialists, ophthalmologists) and women who want to be sure of their beauty, to be one of the leading reference brands in high tolerance/hypoallergenic cosmetics.
